Born in Chicago USA as Richard Slavin, Radhanath Swami (1951-present) is a leading member (GBC) and a voted-in guru within the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). He works largely from Mumbai in India and New Vrindavan, USA.

On Jun 12, 2000, Radhanatha Swami, a defendant, has been found accused of Child Abuse ($400 million law suit) perpetrated by ISKCON leaders during 1970’ and 1980’. A 5 years long litigation. "This was clearly a victory for religious freedom," said David Liberman (Amarendra Dasa), one of the attorneys for ISKCON defendants. "We are greatly pleased..." said Anuttama Dasa, ISKCON Director of Communications.

“On Sept 28 2001 in Dallas TX, USA, the Hon. Judge Lindsay rejected the complaint that ISKCON violated federal RICO statutes. He found that ISKCON did not abuse children for profit...”

Judge Lindsay ruled in favor of ISKCON Gurus and leaders, but never did he deny the crimes they and those under them committed. The case was transferred to the state courts.

“Some of the worst of the reported child abuse also took place at New Vrindaban.”

- by Don Lattin, San Francisco Chronicle

To escape the justice, Richard Slavin along with the help of other ISKCON Gurus, GBCs, directors, lawyers and leaders filed ISKCON's Chapter 11 Bankruptcy case on June 30, 2003 under the pretext to reorganize their finances.

On February 27, 2004, Mr. Liberman writes to ISKCON Communications:

“The Krishna reorganization plan provides for up to $15 million to be provided to ISKCON creditors, the majority of whom are former ISKCON students.”

Then, a year later, on May 25, 2005, Mr. Federowski (Gupta das) another lawyer for ISKCON Gurus (defendants), is addressing ISKCON Communications as follows:

The Plan provides 9.5 million dollars in compensation to claimants.”

From original $400 million the case was settled out of court for less than 3% of the original. As Mr. Liberman puts it: This was clearly a victory for religious freedom. And as Mr. Anutama das puts it: We are greatly pleased and relieved.

No money nor any amount of lawyers nor pep-talk can ever compensate betrayal of the spirit and destroyed lives of hundreds of innocent children.

These rogues are the most dangerous elements in human society. Because there is no religious government, they escape punishment by the law of the state. They cannot, however, escape the law of the Supreme,…”  - Sri Ishopanishad

                        ——————————————————

Richard Slavin has about 10,000 disciples (many of whom are ex Kirtananada’s disciples or aspiring disciples whom he takes charge off on Kirtanananda’s behalf). They donate (Guru-dakshina) to their Guru at least once a year during Mr. Slavin’s birth day. He is getting in average of $5 million per year. Just recently he has gotten a donation of R.s 108 crores from a wealthy Indian disciple. 108 crors translates to $22 million. Thousands of disciples eagerly join Mr. Richard Slavin in his theatrical performances and dances.

Radhanath Swami joined the New Vrindaban ISKCON farm community in West Virginia during July 1972. There he received sanyasa initiation from Kirtanananda Swami in 1982. He was one of Kirtanananda’s foremost followers at that time and he remained so till 1993. During this time period some of the worst child abuse in ISKCON happened at the community. Shortly after, Radhanatha Swami become an ISKCON ‘Guru’ in mid 1990’s by 2/3 vote of ISKCON GBC (Governing Body Commission). As such he is considered, among ISKCON members and followers, to be ‘God’s Representative’ on earth.

Kirtanananda Swami was the foundation for Radhanath's seemingly boundless success he enjoys presently. After Kirtanananda Swami was incarcerated due to endless crimes he committed in USA, Radhanath Swami took over Kirtanananda's temples and followers in India (while keeping in contact with K swami). This gave him a huge jump-start in growing his personal movement worldwide by improvising as a bona fide guru and a saint.

The most dark side of Radhanatha Swami’s life is his involvement in the murder of Sulochana dasa, one of several murders of New Vrindavana Community back in the 1980’s. That murder was sanctioned by Kirtanananda Swami (ISKCON GBC and Zonal Guru). Radhanatha Swami was able to avoid justice with the help of best federal defense Lawyers working for him and hired by ISKCON New Vrindavan.

ISKCON leaders, such as Radhanatha Swami at el, are extensively described and accounted for by scholars, journalists, writers as well as the larger devotee community around the world.

“Cult leaders are often psychopathic and power hungry. They teach their followers that the outside world is evil; that the cult offers the only salvation. This creates an atmosphere of isolation, leading to hopelessness. “ - Nori J. Muster http://www.surrealist.org/betrayalofthespirit/cult.html

“Sociopath, anti-social personality, psychopath. Everyone should be wary of an individual who has glib charm, a soothing voice, a penetrating gaze, dramatic gestures, and engages in meaningless flattery and vague/inconsistent responses to personal questions. When a psychopath complains of how others treat him, it should be remembered who the real victims are likely to be.”

- David B. Adams, Ph.D., F.A.A.C.P.

http://www.psychological.com/april_01_newsletter.htm

“I find Radhanath to be very reminiscent of the person who was the founder of the Zonal Acarya system, and who created so much trouble and problems in ISKCON, namely Kirtanananda… Radhanath supported and defended him for so many years…. In general, we find that Radhanath is honing his skills at being the quintessential entertainer/lecturer,... Radhanath lectures often rely on storytelling and over-dramatizations,”

"4.Pathological Lying

Another form of lying common among cult leaders is known as pseudologica fantastica, an extension of pathological lying. Leaders tend to create a complex belief system, often about their own powers and abilities, in which they themselves sometimes get caught up. "It is often difficult to determine whether the lies are an actual delusional distortion of reality or are expressed with the conscious or unconscious intent to deceive. These manipulators are rarely original thinkers. Plagiarists and thieves, they seldom credit the true originators of ideas, often co-opting authorship. They are extremely convincing, forceful in the expression of their views, and talented at passing lie detector tests. For them, objective truth does not exist. The only "truth" is whatever will best achieve the outcome that meets their needs. This type of opportunism is very difficult to understand for those who are not psychopaths. For this reason, followers are more apt to invent or go along with all kinds of explanations and rationales for apparent inconsistencies in behavior "I know my guru must have had a good reason for doing this." "He did it because he loves me even though it hurts.""

The history of New Vrindavan Community has been well described in following publications and articles:

1. Betrayal of the Spirit

by Nori J. Muster

University of Illinois Press

2. Monkey on a Stick

by John Hubner and Lindsey Gruson

http://www.amazon.com/Monkey-Stick-Murder-Madness-Krishnas/dp/0151620865

"This shocking expose by the journalist coauthors will disabuse readers that the Hare Krishna sect is exclusively a group of religious devotees...Nationwide, some members financed the sect by selling drugs and soliciting money for nonexistent charities. Kirtanananda founded a colony called New Vrindaban in West Virginia, where wife-beating, child sexual abuse, rape and even murder took place. The authors document their charges from interviews with Hare Krishna defectors and police and court records, and the cumulative effect is chilling. 50,000 first printing; Literary Guild and Doubleday Book" - From Publishers Weekly

http://caliber.ucpress.net/doi/abs/10.1525/nr.2006.9.3.006

“We describe how a crisis of leadership authority at New Vrindaban, a renegade Hare Krishna community in West Virginia, brought about an exodus of community residents, financial decline, conflict, and the ultimate transformation of the community's mission. ”

4. New Vrindaban: A Case Study of Communal Child-Rearing

by Megan Barker, Jennifer Doyle, Amelia Gerst, and Annie Hartman

Ohio University Global Leadership Center

http://www.pluralism.org/affiliates/emery/Communal_Child_Rearing.pdf

In 1987, Kirtanananda, the then leader of the community, was indicted on several federal charges, including conspiracy to commit murder. Allegations of child abuse emerged, and it was discovered that the youth in ISKCON schools throughout the United States, including New Vrindaban, were being grossly mistreated. This abuse in the schools was facilitated by the segregation of children from their families and the difficulty they faced trying to communicate their situation to adult relatives. Letters home to parents had to be approved by the schools and students were often forced to rewrite them. As a result, Hare Krishna children suffered from gruesome physical, psychological, and emotional abuse without recourse (Rochford, Jr. and Bailey).”

"...the devotees have assumed that anyone with lots of disciples and lots of money, and who seems to be successfully preaching, must be spiritually advanced……..Radhanatha Swami obviously feels that he doesn't need to have any explanation for anything he does. He doesn't have to explain why he went and visited Kirtanananda and had his men staying at his New York Sanctuary. He doesn't have to explain why he visited Tirtha in prison, and gives him so much support despite the fact that he's guilty of multiple murders that happened under his watch. He doesn't apologize for what happened to victims like Sulocana and Chakradhari under the regime that he was so actively involved in. According to Radhanatha and Gokulananda, we're supposed to put all this behind us, buried along with the dark history no one wants to dig up. Unfortunately, we just can't escape the truism that if you don't know what your history is and you don't study it, then there's a strong likelihood you're going to repeat it. And this, of course, is what we've been doing for the last 20 years."

A Response To Malati Mataji's 'Factual Timeline'

http://harekrsna.com/sun/editorials/10-08/editorials3527.htm

Actually, there was nothing for me to be confused about. As per my testimony under oath, Kirtanananda and Radhanath Maharaja drove into the driveway of the SKP house and honked the horn. When I approached the car I was asked if I had $5,000.00 in the safe. I went in, retrieved it, and handed it to Radhanath Maharaja, who handed it to Kirtanananda. I asked if this was to get them out of the country. I received affirmative smiles in response. Bas, that was it!

"Prabhupada's death, however, sent the global Hare Krishna community in upheaval over leadership. The result at New Vrindaban, according to Marshall County Sheriff John Gruzinskas, was corruption.

‘When their leader died, there was no direction so certain folks saw it as an opportunity to move in and take advantage,’ said Gruzinskas, a 25-year veteran of the State Police and the lead investigator in several cases involving the activities at the commune."  - Daily Mail
